Running as Fast as I Can

Running is my favorite exercise these days, and my goal distance is always 3.1 miles. I’m obsessed with the 5k.

I ran my first and second races this year.

The first race looked like this:

And the second like this:

I was pretty excited about the improvement race over race. But, I’m fully aware that my pace is slow.

On Wednesday I ran on the treadmill and it looked like this:

I’ll admit it, I’m discouraged. This was the best I could do.

I’ve been having to slow down to keep my heart rate down. My heart rate can easily get up to 200 if I don’t watch it, and I’m trying to keep it below 180.

And I’ve had to trade speeds for it, quite a few times. I’m going to keep working at it and I’m determined to run an 8 minute mile by this time next year.

My next 5k race is on the 22nd and we’ll see how it goes.
