Before my weight loss journey, I was a huge snacker. HUGE! Road snacks still have a special place in my heart. And after three weeks of travel, earlier in the year, I gained three pounds that I attribute solely to road snack.
Nowadays I’m trying to snack healthier, while still getting the enjoyment of snacking. At Costco recently I found these dried and seasoned shiitake mushrooms.
I was not thrilled to find that they are 5 points per 1/3 of a cup, but they are so darn tasty! And they’ve got potassium in them, which is my excuse for eating such a high point snack.
Ok, so it’s only 2% of my daily potassium recommendations, but hey 2% is better than 0% amiright?!
Crunch is covered. Next is salty.
I measured out 1 ounce of vegan jerky.
What is vegan jerky, you ask? It’s a soy snack with flavors like bbq, mesquite, and smoked chipotle.
This one is nice cause it’s salty and spicy.
Crunchy and salty are all set. Now on to something sweet.
I am in love with Kirkland protein bars from Costco. So far I’ve had Cookie Dough, Chocolate Brownie, and Peanut Butter. Peanut butter is my favorite, so of course I don’t have any more in the house. So I grabbed a Chocolate Brownie.
On the side I had one tablespoon of Crazy Richard’s peanut butter powered (0 points) with water, 1/4 tsp of Kirkland Hazelnut Chocolate spread (0 points), and 13 Lily’s Dark Chocolate Chips (0 points). See what I did there?
I use this zero point bowl of deliciousness as a dip for my protein bar. And no joke, it makes me feel like a genius every time. Freakin zero point rockstar!
All together this snack was 11 points and every bite was exactly what I wanted.
I don’t always use so many points for snacks, but I felt good about it since I worked out quite a bit this week and am feeling like I need to get more calories into my body.
